School Holiday in Chennai: Orange Alert in THESE Districts

School Holiday in Chennai: Over the southeast Bay of Bengal, a new low-pressure system has developed, laying the groundwork for a possible cyclonic storm called “Montha,” which is predicted to reach land early next week. In response, on Monday, October 27, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an Orange Alert for the districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Ranipet, predicting very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall.

After forming this morning, the system is currently moving west-northwest and is predicted to build into a cyclonic storm before concentrating into a depression by October 26. Thailand proposed the name “Montha,” which translates to “fragrant flower” or “beautiful flower” in Thai. The name is a component of the North Indian Ocean region’s tropical cyclone naming scheme.

Heavy Rainfall Today in These Districts in Tamil Nadu:

As the Northeast Monsoon remains active over Tamil Nadu, there is a concern of an upcoming storm. Heavy rainfall is expected today in many interior districts, including Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, Erode, Tirupattur, Vellore, and Ranipet, according to the IMD.

The enhanced monsoon conditions, which are being exacerbated by the Bay of Bengal’s growing system, are the cause of this extensive rainfall. With the possibility of heavy rainfall accumulation across a large area of the state in the days ahead, the combination of these weather patterns is causing a volatile situation.

School Holidays in Tamil Nadu:

As there is heavy rainfall right now, the government of Tamil Nadu has declared holidays for schools on the day of heavy rainfall. It is said that there might be a heavy storm tomorrow with heavy thundering too.

The current system is more confidently predicted by meteorological models than a previous depression in the Bay of Bengal, which faded without becoming a designated storm. According to the IMD, the depression that is developing around the end of October has the atmospheric characteristics needed to become Cyclone Montha, so officials and locals are starting to be ready for possible flooding, high winds, and interruptions to daily life.
