Hyderabad Water Supply Alert:
The residents of Hyderabad are advised to be prepared for a temporary disruption in drinking water supply on October 7, 2025. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has issued an alert after a major leak was found in the 1200 mm diameter PSC gravity main pipeline, which carries water from Singur to Khanaapur. The damage occurred near the Manikonda culvert, resulting in a significant leakage.
According to officials, repair work on the damaged pipeline will begin on Monday night, October 6, at 10 p.m. and is expected to continue until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7. During these ten hours, water pressure will be low in some parts of the city, while in others, supply may be completely stopped.
Areas likely to face disruption include Manikonda, Narsingi municipalities, and localities under the Shaikpet reservoir zone. The water board has urged residents in these areas to use available water carefully and avoid wastage during this period.
Officials have assured that repair works are being carried out on a war footing to restore supply as quickly as possible. Once the repairs are complete, normal water supply is expected to resume without further delay.
The HMWSSB has also requested citizens to store sufficient water in advance and to report any additional leakages or water-related issues to their local water office.
Citizens are advised to stay updated through official announcements or local news channels regarding the progress of repair works and restoration timelines.
This temporary inconvenience, the board explained, is necessary to ensure that the city’s water supply network remains safe and reliable.
