IRCTC Travel Insurance for Passengers: Here’s How to Get It

IRCTC Travel Insurance for Passengers:
Indian Railways has introduced an affordable travel insurance scheme for railway passengers, offering coverage of up to ₹10 lakh for a premium of just 45 paise. This insurance is available to passengers booking e-tickets through the IRCTC website or app.

IRCTC Travel Insurance for Passengers:

The Indian Railways travel insurance covers a range of unfortunate incidents, including accidents, deaths, and disability resulting from train-related accidents. This insurance is available to those who book their tickets online through IRCTC and opt for the insurance scheme while purchasing their tickets.

The option is available for all passengers who book confirmed or RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets. To get the insurance, passengers simply need to pay a premium of 45 paise while booking their tickets online. However, those traveling in general coaches are not eligible for this benefit.

How to Get the Insurance?

Passengers can select the insurance option when booking their e-tickets through IRCTC. After paying the insurance premium, the policy information will be sent to the registered mobile number or email ID of the passenger. The insurance covers a range of benefits, including compensation for accidents, death, and even hospitalization due to train accidents.

Claiming the Insurance

In case of an accident, passengers or their nominees can claim the insurance directly from the insurance company. The following documents will be required to process the claim:

Railway-issued accident verification report
Signed claim form from the nominee or legal heir
Medical reports and bills from the hospital
A copy of the NEFT (National Electronic Funds Transfer) details for payment

This travel insurance scheme is a beneficial step to enhance passenger safety during train journeys, offering them financial protection in the event of an accident. It’s a small price to pay for peace of mind during travel.
