Tomorrow School Holiday:
As the holy month of Karthika Masam begins, people in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are preparing to celebrate Nagula Chavithi, a traditional festival observed with great devotion. Many are wondering whether schools and colleges will remain closed on this special day. Let’s find out the truth behind the holiday news.
Nagula Chavithi is one of the most important festivals celebrated in Telugu states. It falls on the fourth day of Karthika Masam, and devotees worship the serpent god (Nag Devata) by offering milk and prayers near anthills or snake pits. The festival symbolizes prosperity, protection, and good health for the family.
Despite the cultural and religious importance of Nagula Chavithi, the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have not declared it as an official public holiday. It does not appear in the state’s official holiday calendar released by the education departments or state governments.
While there is no statewide government holiday, some private schools and colleges may choose to declare a holiday for their students and staff, considering local customs and community requests. This means holiday decisions vary depending on the school or college management.
Even though it’s not a government-declared holiday, families across both Telugu states will still observe Nagula Chavithi with great devotion. Many people fast, visit temples, and perform rituals to honor the serpent gods. Women especially take part in pujas for their family’s well-being.
