Telangana Private Colleges Strike:

Private college managements across Telangana have decided to go on an indefinite strike from November 3, 2025, over the non-payment of fee reimbursement dues by the state government. The Federation of Private College Managements announced this decision after several failed discussions with government officials. They stated that despite repeated promises, the issue of pending funds remains unresolved, forcing them to take this extreme step.

According to the federation, they have been in talks with the government for over a month, but no concrete action has been taken. The managements said they will officially send notices to the government on October 22 before beginning their protest. They expressed disappointment that the state government has not shown sincerity in clearing the dues, which have now reached around ₹1,200 crore.

During a recent meeting held on Sunday, the federation members said that even though Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Sridhar Babu had promised to release the funds before Diwali, the payments were not made. They added that this delay has severely affected the functioning of private colleges, as many institutions are struggling to manage their operational costs.

Federation president Ramesh Babu stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who also holds the education portfolio, did not discuss the fee reimbursement issue in the latest education department review meeting. He mentioned that the managements had postponed their protest several times, trusting the Chief Minister’s assurances, but their patience has now run out.

Before the executive committee meeting, the federation members also met Education Department Advisor K. Keshava Rao. He reportedly assured them that he would discuss the matter with the Chief Minister and work towards finding a solution. However, the managements are firm that the strike will continue until the government releases the pending funds.

The private college associations stated that they are unable to continue running their institutions under the current circumstances. They emphasized that their demand is not political but necessary to sustain the colleges and protect the future of students and staff.
