School Holiday Today:
Due to the recent Montha cyclone, school schedules across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana remain disrupted. While weather conditions have improved in some areas, several districts continue to face the cyclone’s aftereffects. Authorities have decided to reopen schools in safer areas while extending holidays in districts still affected by heavy rains and floods.
In Andhra Pradesh, NTR district officials confirmed that schools under all managements will reopen from Thursday, October 30, after safety inspections. District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha said only schools used as rehabilitation centers will remain closed until further notice. Officials from R&B and education departments were directed to inspect school buildings, ensuring classroom safety, proper drinking water, sanitation, and electricity before resuming classes.
Similarly, schools in Guntur and Palnadu districts will reopen on Thursday after cleaning and ensuring all facilities are safe for students. However, in Alluri Sitaramaraju district, schools will remain closed as rainfall intensity continues. The district administration stated that classes will resume only when conditions return to normal.
In Visakhapatnam, the district collector MN Harendira Prasad declared a one-day holiday on Thursday for all schools up to Class 10 and Anganwadi centers, citing safety concerns. In Anakapalli district, schools functioning as cyclone shelters will remain closed, as many buildings are being used to house evacuated families.
Meanwhile, in Telangana, the storm impact continues in several northern districts. Officials announced school and college holidays in Warangal, Hanamkonda, Mulugu, Mahabubabad, and Siddipet districts due to ongoing heavy rains. Siddipet District Collector Haimavathi said that all government and private educational institutions will remain closed on Thursday for student safety.
Authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and will announce further updates as conditions improve. Parents and students are advised to check official district websites or follow local administration announcements for the latest school reopening information.
