School Holidays Announced in Andhra Pradesh Due To Cyclone Montha

School Holidays:
Cyclone Montha is bringing very heavy rainfall to many parts of Andhra Pradesh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given a strong warning about the bad weather expected over the next few days. Because of this situation, district officials have decided to close schools in several areas to keep students safe.

School Holidays:

Schools in East Godavari, Annamayya, and Kadapa districts will stay closed on October 27 and 28. In NTR, Bapatla, Krishna, and Guntur districts, holidays have been declared for three days from October 27 to 29. The District Collector of Dr BR Ambedkar Konaseema district informed school managements to announce holidays based on rainfall conditions in their local areas. More districts may also announce holidays soon if the weather becomes worse.

The IMD has issued a red alert for Bapatla, YSR, Prakasam, Nellore, Tirupati, and Annamayya districts. This means very heavy rain is expected, which can cause floods and travel problems. Nandyal, Chittoor, Palnadu, Guntur, Krishna, East Godavari, and Konaseema districts are under an orange alert, indicating a high chance of strong winds and rainfall.

Experts say the weather system in the Bay of Bengal is getting stronger. It may turn into a cyclonic storm by October 27 and later become a severe cyclonic storm by October 28. Cyclone Montha is expected to make landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam around midnight on October 28.

During landfall, places like Kakinada, Godavari, Eluru, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, and YSR districts are likely to receive very heavy rainfall, up to 20 cm. Wind speeds may reach 90 to 100 km per hour.

Authorities have asked people to stay alert and avoid traveling during heavy rains. Everyone is advised to follow official updates until the cyclone risk is over.
