Today, October 29, has been declared a holiday for schools in many districts of Andhra Pradesh. The state has been experiencing continuous heavy rainfall because of Cyclone Montha. Weather experts have warned that thunderstorms and strong winds will continue for the next few days. To ensure the safety of students and staff, the government has directed educational institutions to remain closed in several parts of the state.


Schools Closed Today

Cyclone Montha is currently affecting the weather conditions in Andhra Pradesh, especially coastal districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for the state, warning of severe rainfall that may lead to waterlogging, traffic disruption and rough sea conditions. Local authorities have advised people to stay indoors during heavy rains and avoid risky areas.

District-wise Holiday Details

Schools will remain closed today in the following districts:

Vizianagaram, Manyam, Anakapalle, Alluri, Visakhapatnam, Konaseema, Tadepalligudem (T.G.), Peddapuram (P.G.), Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Prakasam, Bapatla, Palnadu, Kadapa, Tirupati and Nellore.


In Kakinada district, holidays for educational institutions will continue until October 31 because the weather situation in that area is more serious. Colleges in Nellore, Anakapalle, Krishna, NTR and Guntur districts are also closed today due to heavy rainfall.

Authorities are continuously monitoring the cyclone’s movement. Disaster teams and emergency services have been alerted to respond if any damage occurs. Parents are advised to check for updates from local officials before sending children outside.

Students are encouraged to stay indoors and remain safe while the weather improves. More announcements are expected depending on the rainfall situation in the next few days. Safety remains the highest priority as Cyclone Montha continues to affect Andhra Pradesh.
