Schools Holiday Today on July 29:
The Nagpur district education department has announced a holiday on July 29, 2025, for all schools. This includes CBSE-affiliated schools. The announcement was made in light of Nag Panchami, a traditional festival.
The education department has issued a notification to ensure that all schools, including CBSE schools, follow the holiday calendar for the current academic year. The notification was issued after a complaint from the CBSE Schools Staff Welfare Association (CSSWA). They pointed out that many CBSE schools in Nagpur had not declared holidays for Nag Panchami.
District Education Officer, Rohini Kumbhar, confirmed the holiday for Nag Panchami in a letter to schools. The holiday had already been included in the official holiday list for the current academic year. The education department had received several complaints about CBSE schools ignoring the holiday calendar.
In response to these complaints, the education department reiterated the earlier directive issued on February 14. The department has instructed school administrators to follow the holiday calendar and ensure that schools remain closed on July 29.
The authorities have also asked block and cluster level officers to monitor whether schools follow the holiday instructions. They warned that any violations will lead to serious disciplinary action.
CSSWA President, Deepali Dably, had earlier requested the district administration to ensure uniformity among all CBSE schools regarding holidays. She noted that no CBSE schools in Nagpur had declared a holiday for Nag Panchami, despite the official instructions.
As a result, all schools in Nagpur, including CBSE schools, will remain closed on July 29, 2025, to celebrate Nag Panchami.
