Telangana BC Bandh Today:
The Telangana Backward Classes (BC) Joint Action Committee (JAC) has called for a statewide bandh on Saturday to protest against the High Court’s stay order on providing 42% reservations for BCs in local body elections. The bandh has gained strong support from all major political parties, public organizations, educational institutions, and trade unions across the state.
Several educational and business institutions have voluntarily decided to close for the day. Some engineering and degree colleges announced holidays, and even RTC unions have shown partial support by agreeing to join the bandh in the morning hours before resuming bus services later in the day.
BC JAC President R. Krishnaiah emphasized that the bandh aims to ensure the implementation of 42% BC reservations and urged traders to voluntarily shut down their businesses, except essential services like hospitals and medical stores. He criticized the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss their special leave petition, questioning if the court’s ruling was beyond review.
Leaders like Jajula Srinivas Goud urged citizens to support the bandh peacefully and ensure its success through unity and discipline. Media representatives and journalists have also been requested to extend their moral support, recognizing the bandh as a symbol of BC self-respect.
Meanwhile, the DGP Shivadher Reddy has instructed that the bandh should be conducted peacefully, warning that any law violations will invite strict action.
BC leaders vowed that their struggle would continue until the 42% reservations are restored, comparing it to the spirit of the Telangana movement. A major protest, “Chalo Hyderabad,” has also been planned for later this month to intensify their demand for justice.
