Actor-politician Ramya has taken legal action against fans of actor Darshan. She received severe online abuse, including rape and death threats, from the actor’s supporters. Ramya publicly shared screenshots of these messages on her Instagram stories. She has now filed a formal police complaint with her lawyer and submitted all the evidence she collected.
Ramya highlighted the disturbing trend of online harassment targeting women. She commented, “Abusing women has become the norm, and they’re getting away with it.” She added that online trolls often try to tarnish a woman’s character the moment she speaks up. Ramya compared the abuse to the original crime scenario, noting, “There is no difference between what Renukaswamy did and what his fans are doing.”
Darshan faces serious charges in the murder of 33-year-old Renukaswamy. The actor allegedly had him killed over derogatory comments about his associate Pavithra Gowda. Darshan, Pavithra, and several others were arrested on June 11, 2024, in connection with the crime. The Karnataka High Court granted Darshan bail. He resumed shooting in Thailand and returned to India on July 26.
While shooting in Thailand, Darshan sparked fresh controversy. A photo emerged showing him partying with Bipin Rai, who faces charges in another murder case involving communal tensions in Mangaluru. The image added complexity to the already volatile situation surrounding the actor and his legal troubles.
