1. Milk and Dairy Products

Chicken is high in protein, while milk contains calcium. Mixing protein and calcium can put stress on your digestive system. This combination may lead to gas, bloating, and indigestion. It’s better to wait a few hours before consuming milk or dairy after eating chicken.


2. Sweets and Sugary Juices

After eating chicken, avoid sweets and fruit juices that are high in sugar. The sudden increase in glucose levels can lead to tiredness and affect your energy levels. According to Harvard Medical School, this is called a “sugar spike” and it may disturb your metabolism.

3. Citrus Fruits

Many people like to squeeze lemon on chicken dishes, especially biryani. However, acidic fruits like lemons and oranges can increase stomach acid when eaten with chicken. This may cause heartburn and discomfort. A 2021 study by the Journal of Gastroenterology supports this claim.

4. Fried Foods

After eating chicken, avoid consuming fried items like chips or vadas. These foods are heavy in fat and are difficult to digest. They can increase the chances of gas, bloating, and even laziness due to slow digestion.

5. Alcohol

Some people consume alcohol before or after eating chicken. This is not good for the liver. The combination can put extra pressure on the liver and affect digestion. It’s best to avoid alcohol when you eat chicken.

6. Fruits with High Water Content

Eating water-rich fruits like watermelon or cucumber immediately after chicken can dilute digestive juices. This slows down the digestion process and may lead to stomach discomfort.

7. Cold Water or Soft Drinks

Drinking cold water or soft drinks right after chicken can harden the fats in the meat. This may slow digestion and cause acidity or bloating. It’s better to drink warm water or wait for 30 minutes.

Chicken is healthy when eaten in the right way. But combining it with the wrong foods can cause problems. Pay attention to what you eat after consuming chicken. Eating wisely will help your body absorb nutrients better and keep your digestion smooth.
