How Does Period Underwear Actually Feel to Wear?

Period Underwear: Conceived around an audience that struggles to find maternity pads, drawers that are now classified under eco-friendly underwear would not have been able to convince far-off continents owing to its unacceptable design ethos and usability. In order to feel one way or another, the period underwear calls for the first-hand experience of being put to such use. Here are some common wearers’ opinions and stories about their doubts regarding the product and its practical aspects before switching allegiance.

Doubt: “Periods Are Messy Enough Already”

Periods already feel uncomfortable, tiring, and inconvenient. For many, the idea of adding something extra into the routine makes the prospect of clamping down on anything unattractive. Period underwear gets its name from an absorption function. For some, it is this function itself that makes the use of such underwear objectionable, for, unlike disposable pads, these must be test-washed thoroughly between uses-and there begins the fear.

The Washing Process: Too Much Work?

Another big concern people raise is maximally-washing them. These aren’t simple little stains; they’ll drink up blood. The underwear needs to be rinsed and rinsed again until the water is clear. For many, it seems too tedious, too messy, and quite frankly, a bit gross. Some even joke it looks like a little crime scene cleanup in the bathroom.

Hygiene is also big on their minds. In case the underwear receives improper washing and drying, they fear that it can cause irritation or rashes. Then comes drying. Without good sunlight or airflow, the drying can take forever, so slippery with dampness or odour it becomes a concern.

Why Welcome? Why Resisting?

Proponents of period underwear boast of sustainability, comfort, and cutting down on monthly waste. Some critics ponder why feminine hygiene seems to go backward-going through cloth, to pads, and back again to needing washing.

Where period underwear works for some, it is apparent that others feel the efforts far outweigh the gains. Switching remains an idiosyncratic affair, and one can make the decision most suitable to his/her comfort by knowing pros and cons.
