Hindi Remake of Oppam: The Hindi remake of Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam blockbuster movie ‘Oppam’, starring Mohanlal, is now in development. Saif Ali Khan is leading in this movie Haivan, and Akshay Kumar is playing the main antagonist. Making this one of Bollywood’s most awaited projects this year, it is the first time Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are working together in the last 17 years.
Among others, the movie stars Sharib Hashmi, Boman Irani, Asrani, Sayami Kher, and Shriya Pilgaonkar together with the lead actors. Though this has not yet been confirmed, Mohanlal is rumored to make a cameo for the “Atithi” character in ‘Oppam.’ But Priyadarshan posted a still from the set with Mohanlal recently, causing more enthusiasm among viewers.
Divakar Mani is in charge of cinematography; Sabu Cyril controls production design. While the other schedules are in Ooty and Mumbai, the first one was finished in Kochi. He has written the screenplay for ‘Haivan’, therefore guaranteeing that the adaptation stays true to the source but still innovative like the usual Priyadarshan thriller attitudes.
Under Venkat K Narayan and Shailaja Desai Fen’s production, KVN Productions and Thespian Films are creating the movie. This marks the second cooperation between the two banners. The first was the Malayalam film “Balan.” The convergence of four national award-winning performers—Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, and Sabu Cyril—on the same project is a great highlight and generates tremendous audience buzz.
Haivan is claimed to be among the most awaited thrillers of Indian cinema this year, as Priyadarshan is occupied with other Bollywood movies including ‘Bhoot Bangla’ with Akshay Kumar and another project called ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
