Ravanaprabhu Re-Release: By now, it is clear that Mohanlal’s films are always going to be the waves in any re-releases happening within the Malayalam film industry. The list has also been added with the classic movie Ravanaprabhu by Ranjith, which was originally released in 2001 and completed 24 years in re-releases. It revived the cinema halls not only with the graphics but also with the sound that really-going nostalgic with fans who grew up in the 1990s.
Even in a double role as parent and child, Ravanaprabhu with Mohanlal has always stood out and remained among the favorites. The pre-release buzz had already reached some crescendo because of advance bookings, which indicated the heat it had before the re-release. Box office net trackers claimed that the film made ₹36 lakh through advance bookings – a number worth mentioning for a re-release.
On its first day, Ravanaprabhu earned around ₹70 lakh from Kerala alone, making it the second hugest opening for a re-released film in the state’s history. Only Sphadikam shines with a greater one in this regard. Other big re-release titles like Manichitrathazhu, Chotta Mumbai, and Devadoothan in the list of top openings follow them.
Ravanaprabhu today also outshines new releases in Kerala on the same day. It came only next to the Kannada blockbuster in terms of overall daily collection figures, Kantara.
Reports have it advance bookings for Saturday have already crossed ₹29 lakh.
Even several theatres had to add extra shows even at late-night hours because of a surge in demand. Given the weekend momentum, Ravanaprabhu is expected to keep up its strong performance on reaffirming Mohanlal’s box office reign even decades after the film’s original release.
