Vamsi emphasized his respect for Kapoor and stated that his comments were meant to highlight the impact of South cinema, not to undermine Kapoor’s views.
Some users on Twitter wrote about Naga Vamsi disrespecting Boney Kapoor in roundtable conversations. The user wrote “Disrespecting #BoneyKapoor ji was unnecessary, the same point could have been made respectfully. Many top South filmmakers and actors have openly expressed their admiration for Hindi cinema and acknowledged how legends like Amitabh Bachchan, Prakash Mehra, Yash Chopra, and Manmohan Desai inspired their commercial films.”
Reacting to such baseless comments on Internet producer Naga Vamsi took to his social media account Twitter to give a counter to everyone spreading the false rumours. The Lucky Bhaskar producer wrote “You don’t need to teach us how to respect elders, we respect boney ji more than u guys do and there was no disrespect towards boney ji in that conversation it was a healthy discussion, me and boney ji had a nice laugh and hugged each other after the interview… So please don’t come to your conclusions with just what you saw.”
During the conversation, Naga Vamsi candidly spoke about how South Indian cinema outperformed Bollywood in recent years. He said, One thing, sir, you have to accept this. It might sound harsh. We, South Indians, have changed the way you (Bollywood) look at cinema. Because, you guys (Bollywood), were stuck in making films for Bandra and Juhu. You witnessed a change with Baahubali, RRR, Animal and Jawan.” While Boney Kapoor disagrees, he again interrupts by saying many points supporting his statement. This incident made many famous people from Bollywood react including the famous director Hansal Mehta.
