Movies Suriya Rejected: Suriya is one of the most talented actors in the South Indian film industry. Despite coming from a film family, he worked hard to establish his own identity. Over the years, he has chosen unique roles and delivered many hit films. However, there were times when he rejected movie offers that later became massive blockbusters. Let’s take a look at some of the films Suriya missed including the iconic Baahubali.

 1. Aasai (1995)

Before Suriya made his acting debut, director Vasanth had offered him the lead role in Aasai. However, at that time, Suriya was not interested in acting and turned down the offer. The role eventually went to Ajith Kumar, and Aasai became a major success. If Suriya had accepted the role, his career might have started earlier with a blockbuster.

 2. Paruthiveeran (2007)

Suriya was initially offered the lead role in Paruthiveeran, directed by Ameer. However, he felt the role would be a great opportunity for his younger brother, Karthi. He let go of the offer, and Karthi made his acting debut with the film. The movie became a huge hit and established Karthi as a promising actor.

 3. Thuppakki (2012)

After delivering a blockbuster with Ghajini, Suriya was in talks with director A.R. Murugadoss for another film. This film was Thuppakki, which later starred Vijay in the lead role. Due to various reasons, Suriya could not take up the project. Thuppakki went on to become one of the biggest hits of Vijay’s career.

 4. Baahubali (2015 & 2017)

The biggest film Suriya missed was Baahubali. Director S.S. Rajamouli had initially approached him for a key role in the film. However, Suriya was unsure if he would fit into the grand vision of the movie and declined the offer. The role ultimately went to Prabhas, and Baahubali became a pan-India sensation. The film turned Prabhas into a national star and Suriya missed out on a golden opportunity.
