Cloudflare Servers Fail:
A major internet outage on Monday caused several popular websites and apps to stop working for users around the world. The problem was linked to Cloudflare, a company that provides important internet services to many websites. Because of this issue, platforms like X, Canva, ChatGPT, Spotify and more became unreachable for many hours.
The trouble began around 11 AM, when people started reporting that websites were not loading or showing error messages. By the evening, the outage-reporting website Downdetector had received more than 7,000 complaints. Most users said they could not access the platforms at all.
Cloudflare later confirmed that they were facing a critical technical issue. The company said users were seeing “widespread 500 errors,” a common sign that servers are facing serious problems. Even Cloudflare’s own Dashboard and API were not working properly, making the situation more difficult for website administrators.
The outage affected many major platforms including X, Spotify, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s Gemini. In fact, the disruption was so strong that even Downdetector, the tool people use to check outages, went down for some time because it also uses Cloudflare’s services.
When Downdetector came back online, it showed a sharp increase in outage reports for multiple platforms like Canva, Spotify and ChatGPT. Social media quickly filled with posts from users who were confused or frustrated by the sudden breakdown.
This Cloudflare outage happened just weeks after a similar problem at Amazon Web Services (AWS), which disrupted websites like Reddit, Snapchat and Fortnite. With such repeated issues, many experts are now discussing the risks of relying heavily on just a few big companies to keep the internet running smoothly.
Cloudflare has said that it is still investigating the issue and will share more updates once the problem is fully fixed.
