Pushpa 2 Stampede: Family Says Promised Help Didn’t Arrive

Pushpa 2 Stampede: Pushpa 2 may have turned Allu Arjun into a bigger pan-India star and earned massive profits for the producers. But for one family, the film brought a nightmare that still hasn’t ended.

A year has passed since the Sandhya Theater stampede at RTC Crossroads. Ten-year-old Sree Tej went to watch the movie with his parents and sister. In the chaos, he lost his mother. Sree Tej himself was critically injured and has been bedridden ever since, still unaware that his mother is no more.

A House Turned Into a Hospital:

Though discharged six months ago, Sree Tej’s home now functions like a hospital. His father, a nurse, takes care of him round the clock. Sree Tej cannot eat on his own, so a gastrostomy tube was inserted to feed him liquid food. His father told the media that he cannot breathe properly, so a tracheostomy tube helps him get air directly into his lungs, and he cannot speak or signal hunger because 70% of his brain cells were damaged in the stampede. The most heartbreaking part is that now he is lying motionless, like a baby, with tubes attached to his body.

Daily Therapy, Heavy Costs:

The family spends nearly ₹90,000 to ₹1.25 lakh every month on treatment:

  • ₹2,000 per day for swallow and speech therapy
  • ₹30,000 per month for physiotherapy
  • Expenses for special food, medicines, diapers, and travel

It is also reported that his father quit his job at a gold shop to care for him full-time. He also has a 6-year-old daughter and an elderly mother to look after.

Family Says They Need More Help:

Sree Tej’s father said Allu Arjun’s family deposited ₹2 crore as support after his wife’s death. But the monthly interest is not enough for the boy’s treatment. He says they were earlier promised full medical support while the boy was in the hospital. But even after reminding the actor’s team, he has not received further help. The family hopes for support so Sree Tej can continue his therapy and recover at least partially in the coming years.
