How To Travel in Sleeper Coaches Without Reservation: IRCTC Facility Explained

Travel in Sleeper Coaches Without Reservation: In a bid to provide comfort and cheap travel, Indian Railways, Southern Railway, has come up with this innovative-but-rare facility, namely, sleeper coaches for unreserved travel. In these coaches, passengers are allowed to travel comfortably, free from any reservations in advance-fantastic for last-minute travellers and those holding general or season tickets.

This comes in handy especially for the passengers travelling between important stations in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, including major cities like Chennai, Trivandrum, Kozhikode, Mangaluru, Palakkad, Alappuzha, and Kanyakumari.

How it Works

Passengers can simply pay for an unreserved ticket at the station and travel in sleeper coaches on select trains. Such coaches are specifically earmarked and reserved for certain routes. The sleeper coaches can be freely used by season ticket holders, too, thus enhancing the comfort of daily passengers.
