Railways Adds 116 Extra Coaches Amid Flight Cancellations

Indian Railway News: Indian Railways has deployed 116 extra cars on 37 premium trains spanning 114 increased journeys nationwide in response to a spike in passenger demand following major airline disruptions.

A press release from the Railway Ministry states that Southern Railway took the lead with 18 train additions, including Chair Car and Sleeper Class coaches on important high-demand lines, starting on December 6, 2025, greatly increasing capacity in the southern area.

Complete Train Details from All Corridors:
In order to increase availability on frequently traveled northern corridors, Northern Railway upgraded eight trains and added Chair Car and 3AC coaches.

In response to heavy passenger flows from western areas to the nation’s capital, Western Railway expanded four high-demand trains by adding 3AC and 2AC carriages.

East Central Railway improved Bihar-Delhi connectivity by adding additional 2AC coaches to the Rajendra Nagar-New Delhi (12309) line across five trips from December 6 to December 10.

Odisha capital connections were improved when East Coast Railway updated the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi services (Trains 20817/20811/20823) with extra 2AC carriages across five trips.

In response to the growing demand for interstate and regional travel in the east, Eastern Railway added Sleeper Class cars on three important trains over six journeys on December 7 and 8.

In order to maintain a strong capacity for northeastern travelers, Northeast Frontier Railway upgraded two significant trains with 3AC and sleeper coaches over eight journeys each between December 6 and 13.

Four Special Trains on December 6th & 7th:
– Gorakhpur-Anand Vihar Terminal-Gorakhpur Special (05591/05592) for four journeys between December 7 and 9.
– Tushar Mahajan, the martyred captain of New Delhi, is reserved. On December 6, Vande Bharat Special (02439/02440) will provide quick and cozy Jammu connectivity.
– Mumbai Central, New Delhi, and New Delhi Reserved To satisfy the demand from the western sector, Superfast Special (04002/04001) will be operating on December 6 and 7.
– On December 6, a one-way Hazrat Nizamuddin-Thiruvananthapuram Central Reserved Superfast Special (04080) would improve connection to the southern region.
