Indigo Flight Cancellation: Thousands of travelers are stranded as hundreds of flights experience delays and cancellations, resulting in angry scenes at IndiGo counters around Indian airports. Nearly 1,000 flights have been canceled in recent days due to the issues, with operational disruptions continuing for the third consecutive day and services being delayed at several airports.
Reasons Behind Indigo Flight Cancellation:
According to IndiGo, “a multitude of unforeseen operational challenges” are to blame for the inconvenience. These include minor technical problems, altered winter schedules, inclement weather, heavy traffic, and revised crew duty regulations.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) introduced new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations in January 2024, which is the main cause. To increase safety, the new regulations emphasize the importance of pilot and crew rest.
Longer weekly rest periods, a broader definition of night duty, duty hour restrictions, and fewer night landings are some of the major changes. Pilots now only work two night shifts per roster cycle instead of the previous six.

Here’s What Passengers Should Do:
Before departing for the airport, IndiGo passengers should continue to check the flight status. They should arrive early because there can be long lines. It is recommended that travelers bring water, snacks, and common medications in case they have to wait a lengthy time. Families, kids, and senior individuals should all take note of this.
Travelers who purchased flexible tickets could think about canceling or changing their dates. Refundable fares or other flights should be selected by those purchasing new tickets. For information on rescheduling and refunds, follow IndiGo’s social media posts and customer service.
