The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a special honor to the Indian Armed Forces during the last IPL 2025 match, which was hosted at Ahmedabad. Along with the final event, the BCCI has invited Army Chiefs, Navy Chiefs, and Air Force Chiefs as BCCI Tribute to Operation Sindoor. A well praised military operation that demonstrated the defense power of India.
Operation Sindoor: A Defining Moment
Operation Sindoor was a counter attack on Pakistan terrorists in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. During this attack, 26 Hindu people who are mostly tourists were killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
The tensions between India and Pakistan has been handled by the Government and the three services Army, Navy and Airforce. Their main motive is to ensure the safety of the Nation.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized the point that the tribute is paid to cherish the courage, strength, and selfless service of the armed forces. He further added that even if cricket is still a national passion, nothing eclipses the sovereignty and security of the country.

A National Tribute Through Cricket
A special tribute session during the end ceremony of the final of the IPL will be dedicated to the patriotic actions of the armed forces. The tournament will blend sports and patriotism, formally recording the nation’s gratitude to its protectors.
This action by the BCCI is a reflection of the more intersectional sporting culture and national pride. In which the services of the armed forces are called in to one of India’s biggest sporting arenas.
