Dog Overpowers Leopard: In Nashik, Maharashtra, a leopard and a stray dog had a brutal fight. The dog “defeated” the leopard and dragged it for 300 meters at the end of the “fight.” A video of the altercation that took place in Niphad, Nashik, has gone viral on social media.
Witnesses claim that the leopard wandered into the neighborhood earlier this week, causing the incident. In an aggressive reaction, the dog grabbed hold of the leopard and pulled it a long way. Witnesses reported that the leopard eventually broke free and ran away after being unable to resist the dog’s unexpected attack. Despite a fierce struggle, the attacking dog managed to survive the encounter. There were no residents hurt.

After being hurt, the leopard withdrew into adjacent fields, according to local officials. Forest officials said that residents and domestic animals were safe after the incident, but they have not yet established whether the animal needed medical attention. The Nashik incident comes as a nationwide discussion about stray dogs made it all the way to the Supreme Court on Friday. Justice Vikram Nath led a three-judge special court that changed its previous ruling that forbade the release of vaccinated stray dogs from Delhi-NCR pounds, seeing the restriction as “too harsh.”
