Sharmishta Apology: Sharmishta recently made a public apology after fierce reactions to her comments on current political and social tensions. Although her comments ignited controversy and debate, they also generated huge support from people who felt she had raised valid points. The backlash, however, grew into threats and intimidation, leading her to apologise publicly.
Though minute specifics are open to interpretation, Sharmishta is said to have asked why Bollywood’s big guns remained silent, especially the ones who acted in patriotic movies, but didn’t comment on contemporary nation-related issues. Her tweets revolved around different issues, creating mixed reactions to whether celebrities owe it to themselves to voice their opinion about socio-political affairs.
As the row grew, there were reports that Sharmishta had been threatened, including personal abuse beyond criticism. Under growing hostility, she made a statement:
“I do hereby offer my UNCONDITIONAL APOLOGY. Whatever was typed are my own feelings, and I never wished to hurt anyone. So if anyone is hurt, I’m sorry for the same. I look forward to cooperation and understanding. From now on, I will be careful in my public posts. Once again, please accept my apologies.”
