The Telangana government has provided relief to the farmers of Vikarabad district who suffered severe losses due to unseasonal rains in the last monsoon. Recognizing the hardships of the farmers, the government has decided to provide financial assistance to them. It has sanctioned compensation of Rs. 10,000 per acre for the loss of crops on 688 acres belonging to 823 farmers in the district , totaling more than Rs. 68 lakh. While the government has released funds to this extent, the officials are actively making arrangements to deposit cash in the accounts of the farmers. The farmers are hopeful that this compensation will be very useful for cultivation in the upcoming monsoon season.
The heavy rains during the last Yasangi season completely damaged crops like paddy, maize, cotton, soybean, and palli in Vikarabad district. Farmers were in dire financial straits due to the lack of expected yields along with the cost of seeds, fertilizers, and labor. In these dire circumstances, farmers of Vikarabad district have appealed to the government. Agriculture department officials assessed the crop loss at the village level and submitted comprehensive reports to the government. The government has decided to provide compensation of Rs. 10,000 per acre for each acre of damage. The process of preparing cheques for the farmers is currently ongoing. With this financial assistance, it is hoped that farmers will be able to breathe a little before the start of monsoon cultivation.

They warn that if kharif cultivation is started with hasty decisions and seeds are sown immediately after light rains, the soil moisture may decrease quickly and seedlings may not emerge.
Therefore, the officials are advising farmers to wait for a week to ten days and sow seeds only after observing the rainfall. Agriculture department officials said that awareness programs will be organized at the village level on this issue soon. All these measures are intended to provide financial and technical assistance to the farmers. Officials are of the opinion that if the farmers follow the instructions given by the government, there is a possibility of fruitful cultivation in the coming monsoon season.
