Chhaava Movie Review

Chhaava Movie Review: We all know what a brilliant actor Vicky Kaushal is. His journey from an assistant director to Anurag Kashyap in Gangs of Wasseypur to one of the versatile Bollywood stars is an inspiring story. Vicky Kaushal has solidified his place in the top list of present actors with abundant talent, 100% hard work, and some incredible performances. His latest offering and the most-anticipated historical drama Chhaava, is now in theatres. Here’s the Chhaava movie review.

Story:
Chhaava is based on the life of Maratha King Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It brings to life the extraordinary journey of Sambhaji Maharaj, often overshadowed by the ascendancy of his father. An adaptation of the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant, the film is a perfect biopic of a great warrior. It depicts his rise, fall, and suffering that is unknown to many.

Plus Points:
Powerful performances from all the actors. Vicky Kaushal delivers one of the most incredible performances in his career. Be it his screen presence, his dialogue delivery, performance in action and emotional sequences, he brought intensity and depth to his character. Rashmika Mandanna is stunning and brilliant as Yesubai, Sambhaji’s companion. Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb convincingly fits the role. Ashutosh Rana, Vineet Singh, and others have prominent roles. AR Rahman’s music and Laxman Utekar’s direction in capturing each detail stand out. The action sequences look real and choreographed brilliantly. The director has taken care to show authenticity in war scenes, horse rides, and sword swings.

Minus Points:
The film starts slow and the first half moves at a lagging pace. The climax is a little disturbing with a high dose of violence and brutality. Fails to emotionally charge and connect.
Review:
The film offers an impressive cinematic experience. It has several grippy moments. However, the film is too loud and violent towards the end. It makes them exhaustive and teary-eyed.
Chhava Movie Review: 2.5/5
