Ramam Raghavam Review

Yet another comedian from the Jabardasth gang becomes director. Following the footsteps of Venu Yeldandi, who made an emotional family drama Balagam, Dhanraj from the Jabardasth team, has now donned the director role with Ramam Raghavam. The film made a silent release yesterday. Read Ramam Raghavam Review here.

Story:
The Telugu Film Industry has made a plethora of films based on father-son relationships. Jr. NTR’s Nannaku Prematho and Allu Arjun’s S/o Satyamurthy made on the same theme, managed to evoke emotions and became superhits. Ramam Raghavam is the debut of actor-turned-director Dhanraj, emphasizing the bond between father and son. This compelling emotional drama narrates the lives of an honest father Ramam and his carefree son, Raghava. The film takes an unexpected turn when Raghava finds a way to easy money, and when greed overpowers parental love.

Analysis:
Dasaratha Ramam (Samuthirakani) is an honest registrar officer who believes in values and integrity. His honesty and commitment is appreciated by many. Unlike his father, Raghav (Dhanraj) has a different orientation and believes in making easy money. Neither is he good at studies, nor is ready to take family responsibility. The twist in the tale arises when Raghava forges his father’s signature and Ramam gets his son arrested. An enraged Raghava, along with his friend, plans to kill his father. What happens next is the crux of the story.
What made Raghava plot against his father? Will Ramam survive? Will Raghava repent? The climax answers all the questions.

What works:
The second half is good. Powerful performances from the lead actors are visually engaging. Samuthirakani is brilliant and carries the film. His depth and rawness bring a fresh feel. Contrary to his comedy, Dhanraj still delivers a decent performance in a serious role. Pramodhini as mother provides emotional importance. Tight screenplay and grippy narration will convince the audience. Engaging emotional drama works well with the audience.

Minus Points:
The first half could have been better. Routine treatment. Offers nothing new.
