Denis Villeneuve: The ensemble cast of Raajneeti included some of Bollywood’s most well-known actors. Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Sarah Thompson, Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, and Ajay Devgn all played important parts in the movie. Prakash Jha was the producer and director. The Mahabharata, on which the narrative was based, extensively portrayed an impending confrontation between opposing political parties and families. On June 4, 2010, the movie was released in theaters amid a great deal of criticism.

In an interview with Deepti D’Cunha, a film programmer, Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve disclosed that Rajneeti was the first Hindi movie he had ever seen. Additionally, he acknowledged that Ranbir Kapoor’s performance in the movie pleased him. “Looking through old film festival catalogues, I found Denis Villeneuve’s autograph (yes! before selfie days),” Deepti said as the caption on a photo of Villeneuve’s signature that she posted on X. He had just seen his first Indian film, and I recall the great talk we had when he came to see Incendies at the 2010 Abu Dhabi Film Festival.

She also said, “”Which happened to be Raajneeti, and (he) was very impressed by Ranbir Kapoor and wanted to know more about him. He said he is a wonderful actor and stood out among such an ensemble cast. A fond memory of chatting with him & amazing now to see Denis helming such huge Hollywood films!”

Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming film, Dune: Messiah, is scheduled for release in 2026. Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Florence Pugh, who are all poised for a comeback, will serve as its leaders. Dune: Part Two was Villeneuve’s most recent film as director.
