Nayanthara and Trisha are two of the biggest stars in Tamil cinema both with successful careers spanning decades. But for years, rumors of a rivalry between them have often made headlines. While neither has openly confirmed a major fallout both actresses have spoken about their relationship in interviews.

In a throwback interview with Vijay TV from the 2000s, Nayanthara addressed the topic directly. When asked about her connection with Trisha and fellow actress Shriya Saran, she responded with clarity saying, “Friends is such a big word to use flippantly. I am not friends with Trisha… we are acquaintances. There does seem to be problems between us, and it is almost like the age-old belief that women don’t gel with other women. But honestly, I have no problems with her or anyone.”

This statement made it clear that while the two actresses were not close, Nayanthara didn’t hold any ill feelings. She simply felt they weren’t on friendly terms and saw no need to pretend otherwise.

On the other side, Trisha too has addressed the matter. She once shared in an interview with Indiaglitz that there were some misunderstandings between them, mainly due to mutual friends. There was a point where both actresses were being considered for the same role in the film Kuruvi. Eventually, Trisha landed the role, and speculations of professional jealousy began. However Trisha strongly denied these rumors and clarified that there was no major argument between them.

She said they had stopped talking for a while, but there was no heated exchange. “There was never a fight,” she said, adding that media reports often made things worse.

Nayanthara has also mentioned that she tries to keep her relationships with co-stars strictly professional. She recalled how things unexpectedly turned sour with actress Namitha during the shoot of Billa. “In fact, if we were all in a group, she would say a hi to everyone but me,” she said. “There was no fight or argument, but when it happens suddenly, I felt it too. If they have a problem, it is their problem.”
