Hyderabad Latest Traffic Guide 2025: As road accidents and congested city traffic increase, the Hyderabad Traffic Police felt the need to implement stricter traffic laws in 2025 to help reduce bad driving and the associated enforcement. The changes involved increased monetary fines, increased enforcement, and holding people publicly accountable.
For cracking down on irresponsible behavior on roads, the authorities have imposed much higher fines:
Without helmet riding: ₹1,000
Driving without a licence: ₹5,000
Driving while using a mobile phone: ₹5,000
Triple riding on two-wheelers: ₹1,000
Signal jumping and rash driving: ₹5,000 or 6-month imprisonment
Violations of PUC: ₹10,000 and/or jail
These new fines have already been implemented and are being executed with zero tolerance.
One of the most important changes this year is crackdowns on underage driving. Parents letting kids drive will be penalized:
A fine of ₹25,000
Cancellation of vehicle’s registration for one year
The minor will be debarred from getting a driving license until the age of 25
The action is intended to deter unsafe and unauthorized driving by teenagers.
The city witnessed an upsurge in wrong-side driving and helmet-less riding, particularly on arterial roads. The new fines and suspension of licences are being enforced strictly. Special drives were also launched in March 2025 to focus on contraventions such as tinted glass, pressure horns, and riding without mirrors.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, Hyderabad residents have started reporting traffic offenses through photo and video submissions. Over 30,000 e-challans were issued on the basis of inputs by citizens alone in the first half of 2025, which earned over ₹1 crore in revenue.
Telangana’s Minister for Civil Supplies and Transport Ponnam Prabhakar is advocating for central funding to deploy AI-based traffic solutions and updated driver training modules.
Hyderabad’s new traffic regulations signal a move towards responsible, disciplined use of roads. With increased fines, better checks, and public participation, the city is leading the way for safer, more responsible urban transport in India.
