Fire Breaks Out in Tirupati-Hisar Express at Railway Station

Tirupati Train Incident: Fire Accident Tirupati Railway Station. Two coaches of the Tirupati-Hisar Express (Train No. 04717) caught fire on July 14, 2025, when it was standing on a loop line at the Tirupati Railway Station. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board, and there were no injuries, damage, or deaths.

Tirupati Train Incident:

Local railway staff acted immediately by informing authorities, and implementing the fire safety teams. The flames immediately engulfed themselves by using dry chemical powder, and detached the affected coaches to avoid fire spread. Investigation is still on-going, however, as a possible cause a short-circuit has been mentioned.

Diesel-Fuelled Blaze Near Tiruvallur Station

Earlier, on 13 July 2025, a goods train carrying diesel caught fire at a distance from Tiruvallur Railway Station on the Chennai-Arakkonam Route as well as linking to Tirupati.

This happened around 5:30 am when four wagons derailed and caught fire, which eventually spread to 18 other wagons. The firefighting lasted ten hours before it was brought under control.

Actions taken:

The loco pilot blew the emergency brakes, taking into account the precautions made by the Station Master shutting down the overhead power.

Local inhabitats were moved from the area; more so, no loss of lives and damage to structures.

18 were burned while the rest, 30 other unaffected wagons, and the locomotive were decoupled and safe ventured away from ground zero.

Impact of Train accidents:

Tiruvallur Fire: dozens of cancelled, diverted, or short-termed services ensured at least 8 trains cancelled, multiple diversions within Chennai routes; spoiling rail link between Chennai, Bengaluru, Kerala, and Tirupati.

Because of its minimal operational impact as the train was empty, services returned to normal shortly after firefighting efforts at the Tirupati Station.

Authorities, including Southern Railway, NDRF, district administration, and fire services, coordinated the response and monitoring effort. Politicians like AIADMK opposition chief Edappadi K. Palaniswami demanded high-level investigations into causes, particularly after derailment and track sabotage were discussed.
