Vivo Y400 Pro 5G vs Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G: Which One Should You Buy?

Vivo Y400 Pro 5G vs Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G: Which One Should You Buy?

If you want an affordable smartphone with 5G capabilities, you have two well-known options, the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G and Vivo Y400 Pro 5G. They each provide a set of decent features, but there are some key differences between them. We will detail what each specific phone has to offer and help you determine which will be the best fit for you.

Processor and Performance
The Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G is powered by a Dimensity 7300 Ultra chipset, while the Vivo Y400 Pro 5G is powered by the standard Dimensity 7300. Both processors run at 2.5GHz and share eight cores. In typical usage you likely will not see much difference in speed. However, you might see a slightly faster and efficient performance with the “Ultra” version in the Redmi. Vivo also boasts a feature called virtual RAM, which will expand the standard 8GB of available RAM in the Vivo with an extra 8GB of virtual RAM. This virtual RAM may help the phone with performance while you multitask and run multiple applications.

Screen and Battery
Redmi’s screen is a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with 2712 x 1220 resolution and a pixel density of 446 pixels per inch. The AMOLED supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and the screen has Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to prevent scratching or cracking. Vivo’s screen is a little larger at 6.77 inches but is a lower resolution than the Redmi at 1080 x 2392 pixels and 388 pixels per inch. On both phones, the refresh rate is 120Hz so do not expect issues with lag when you switch between screens.

Both the phones come with a 5500mAh battery. Vivo charges much faster with 90W charging power than Redmi with its 45 Watt charging. So, if charging speed is a deal breaker for you then Vivo is better than Redmi.

Camera
Redmi has a triple rear camera setup: a 50MP main sensor, a 8MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 2MP macro lens. Vivo, on the hand, has a simple dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and 2MP macro lens. When it comes to selfies, Vivo’s front camera is sharper boasting a 32MP sensor versus the 20MP sensor on the Redmi. So if you love your selfies then probably the Vivo is a better option but Redmi has given you more camera options overall.

Price and Offers
Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G starts at a price of ₹20,948. That makes it a good option for someone that wants a powerful phone under ₹22,000. The Vivo Y400 Pro 5G is priced around ₹24,999. Redmi has ongoing discounts on Flipkart and Amazon, plus bank offers that make it cheaper. Vivo doesn’t have any solid offers at this time.

In conclusion, if you want a sharper display, better overall performance and value for money, then you’re going to go with the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G. If you’re looking for more charging speed, a trim design, and a better selfie camera, then the Vivo Y400 Pro 5G will be a good buy. Keep in mind however, to choose based on what is the most important to you.
