Instagram Reels are extremely popular now. Many users often blame the Instagram algorithm. It shows specific types of content repeatedly. Your feed may revolve around limited topics. The platform is now changing this dynamic. Instagram finally gives you control over the algorithm. You can change your interests in the Reels tab. This action changes the algorithm for your needs.
Instagram states its goal clearly. It wants users to control their experience more. This control starts specifically with Reels. An AI element assists this personalization process. It helps you view and adjust topics easily.
To begin, go to Instagram’s Reels section. The top right of your screen will display an icon (new) consisting of two lines with hearts on them. Select the new icon and a menu with suggested topics will appear. You can manage your topics and tell Instagram what types of topics that indicate your preferences.
Your suggestions will change based on what you add/remove them from your menu. You can add/delete topics that are listed as top interests. The Reels section on Instagram will now change based on the settings that you select.
Another option that you have with the new algorithm feature is that you can share your interests with others. You can publish them on your story, and all of your followers will be able to see what content interests you. By providing a public view of the interests you have, you are adding an additional layer to the customisation process.
As of now, this feature is limited to a small number of users. Currently, only users in the United States have access to it, but Instagram plans on expanding this feature internationally in the near future, starting with the English speaking community. There are plans for additional expansions as well as for the Explore page. Other app sections will also get it.

This marks a shift in user control. Instagram actively responds to user feedback. It provides more meaningful interaction tools. The platform evolves with user needs.
