From Display To Camera: Biggest Differences Between iPhone 17 And iPhone 16

From Display To Camera: Biggest Differences Between iPhone 17 And iPhone 16

Apple will soon unveil the new iPhone 17 series around the middle of September 2025, likely sometime between September 11 and 13. While each iPhone launch produces some buzz, this year whispers get busy and suggest Apple is preparing significant upgrades, particularly for the base iPhone 17. The iPhone 17 may potentially make changes to the screen, performance, selfie camera, and maybe even the design language, all in comparison to the iPhone 16 model. We will provide five significant upgrades to expect when Apple’s latest flagship arrives.

1. Larger Display and 120Hz ProMotion Comes to Non-Pro Models
One of the more exciting changes rumored for the iPhone 17 is in the display. It has been widely circulated that the screen size will be slightly increased, from 6.1 inches for the iPhone 16 to 6.3 inches. More exciting than size is that Apple will bring the smooth 120Hz ProMotion refresh rate from the Pro models to the standard iPhone 17. This will benefit users experiencing smoother animations, better responsiveness while scrolling and a smoother overall experience.

2. New A19 Chip with More RAM

Performance has always been an area of concern with new iPhones and the iPhone 17 will be no different. We can expect Apple to announce the A19 chip with the brand new 3nm manufacturing process. The chip will offer better power efficiency, faster processing, and improved AI performance. Also, we expect Apple to offer more RAM in the base model iPhone 17s, (probably 12GB versus the lower option in iPhone 16). This should mean better multitasking will be smoother and more efficient. App launches should be faster than its predecessors. Gaming should also be improved.

3. Better Front camera for better selfies

Photography has always marketed iPhones in the past. The rear camera system should be relatively unchanged 48MP main camera with a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The front facing camera is expected to come with a very generous improvement. Apple could offer a 24MP front camera with a six-element lens in the iPhone 17, versus the iPhone 16 front-facing camera and lens, which is only 12MP. This would result in better clarity in selfies, better performance in low light, and better video quality by supporting FaceTime and vlogging.

4. New Colors and Updated Design
Although Apple isn’t expected to completely change the design of the iPhone 17, some changes are expected. The vertical dual camera setup is likely to remain unchanged, but Apple can also introduce some new colors such as Black, White, Purple, and Pink. The popular colors Ultramarine and Teal as seen on the iPhone 16 could be removed. These new colors may potentially have a broader appeal, while also giving the device a new look.

5. Pricing and Release Date in India
With general inflationary pressures and rising production costs, the entry price for the iPhone 17 in India, is likely to be closer to ₹89,900, which is about ₹10,000 higher than the entry price on the iPhone 16. However, with ProMotion, improved cameras, more powerful processors, and different design aspects, many Apple fanatics will probably feel like the higher price is justified.

The iPhone 17 is turning out to be a major upgrade over the prior model, especially for those using the non-Pro models. Whether it be display upgrades, internal upgrades, improvements to the selfie camera, and new color options, Apple’s 2025 iPhone will appeal to a vast assortment of buyers looking for a premium and overall comprehensive smartphone experience.
