Red Alert in Telangana as Intense Thunderstorms Hit Key Districts

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning to be hazardous for various parts of West and Central Telangana. It is, however, severe storms in the area. Today, Red alert has been issued for the districts of Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Jagitial, and Sircilla due to severe lightning strikes and heavy rainfall in the next three hours. Red Alert in Telangana:

The storm has just missed Hyderabad, as it virtually skated past and there could have been havoc caused in the city. However, isolated scattered thunderstorms could be there later during the day, with the most possible areas. Being Patancheru, Isnapur, Ameenpur, and Bachupally. The very heart of Hyderabad could remain dry, at least till midnight.

Currently, North Telangana is in the grip of intense storm activity, including Nizamabad and Kamareddy. With the next round of formative activity expected before noon in Peddapalli, Mancherial, Bhupalapally, Asifabad, Jagitial, and Adilabad.


The South, East, and Central districts, notably Nalgonda, Suryapet, Yadadri, Mahabubabad, Bhadradri, Khammam, Warangal, Mulugu, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar, and Nagarkurnool, are also preparing for widespread and powerful storms to affect between late afternoon and midnight hours. This time frame will have the most intense spells between evening and midnight.

Residents are recommended to remain indoors, refrain from going out in the open, and secure items from being blown outdoors. Travel should be minimized within those areas; however, it is most advisable to stay home.
