HTC Launches AI-Powered Glasses With Camera And Voice Control

HTC has launched its first AI smart glasses called Vive Eagle. These smart glasses do not use a traditional screen.


 

Stylish Design and Light Weight

The Vive Eagle glasses have a classic Wayfarer-style frame and weigh 48.8g with its lenses and 42.8g without its lenses. The Vive Eagle smart glasses come in four styles: Berry, Black, Coffee and Grey.


 

AI Experience

The Vive Eagle smart glasses feature a built-in AI Assistant. Users can select either Google Gemini or OpenAI GPT (still in beta) as their AI Assistant. The user can ask the AI Assistant questions, listen to music, translate text, take photos and videos using their voice. The AI Assistant can help users translate off a sign board or read text from an image in near real-time.

 

Strong Internal Features

The Vive Eagle has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 processor and has 4Gb RAM and 32GB internal storage. The Vive Eagle has a 12 megapixel ultrawide camera capability. The camera captures pictures with a 3024×4032 pixel resolution and records video with a 1512×2016 pixel resolution at 30fps. The smart glass comes with Zeiss lenses with UV400 sun protection.

 

Audio System

HTC added four microphones for audio quality. One microphone is considered directional and three were classified as omnidirectional. The Vive Eagle also has two open-ear stereo speakers. Users can tell if the device is recording or snapping photos thanks to an LED light feature that indicates when recording is occurring, thus relating to privacy concerns.

 

Battery Life and Fast Charging

HTC equipped the glasses with a 235mAh battery. It is said to provide a maximum of 36 standby hours.
You can listen to music for a maximum of 4.5 hours
A magnetic USB charging cable is provided with this device.
When charging, it charges from 1% to 50% in just 10 minutes and 50% to 80% in 23 minutes.

 

Connectivity and Compatibility

The glasses also support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 allowing for seamless wireless using experience.
The features an IP54 rating, so it is protected from limited dust ingress and from water splashes at any angle.
To use the glasses you’ll need to pair them to a smartphone.
Compatible smartphone operating systems is Android 10 or newer and iOS 17.6 or newer respectively.

 

Price and Availability

HTC priced the Vive Eagle at NT$15,600 (about Rs. 45,500).
They are only available as of now in Taiwan.
Customers can purchase them from 2020EYEhaus and some Taiwan Mobile stores.
