WhatsApp’s New Scheduled Calls Feature Makes Group Chats Easier

WhatsApp’s New Scheduled Calls Feature Makes Group Chats Easier

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has added a new feature allowing its users to schedule calls ahead of time. The feature will work well for family chat or work meetings. You can choose a time, set the invitees, and WhatsApp sends reminders to all participants before the call starts.

Schedule Calls

You will now be able to pre-arrange group or individual calls and simply select participants and time. WhatsApp will notify you and the participants when it is about to start. The feature allows the user to arrange their chats without the last-minute rush.

Call in-Call Interaction Tools

WhatsApp has added new in-call interaction tools, which enable users to add interactivity within their calls. Users can easily signal they want to speak, or can react with emojis without disrupting the call flow and leave other participants out of the discussion. This makes a call feel even more fluid to hold the group’s attention.

Call Management

You can now view and find all of your upcoming schedule calls in the Calls tab. You’ll be able to see who is coming on the tab and share invites via links with ease as the creator of the call, and you’ll also receive notifications when people join your call via a shared link. Overall the update simplified meetings for everyone.

Privacy and Security

WhatsApp states that all calls, even if they are planned, will continue to be protected by end-to-end encryption. Your chat will remain private and secure, as it does today.

Scheduling a Call on WhatsApp

  • Open WhatsApp and select the Calls tab.
  • Click the call icon and select a contact or group.
  • Rather than initiate a call right away, select “Schedule Call.”
  • Pick the date and time of the call.
  • Select whether you want it to be a video or audio call.
  • Select the green continue button.
  • The scheduled call will show in your Upcoming Calls record. WhatsApp will send reminders to all participants before the call, so that no one misses it.

Global Rollout

This feature has begun rolling out to all users globally. WhatsApp recognizes that scheduling calls can be quite a tedious experience and aims to make these advances for scheduling easier and elevate the user experience.
