Slimmest Phone in the World: Once, an Indian company made the slimmest phone in the world, which was even slimmer than the iPhone Air. The iPhone Air device is a 5.64mm frame, which stunned the whole world. But do you know, an Indian Brand, Micromax, made the slimmest phone, even less than 5.64 mm. Yes, you heard it right, Micromax Canvas Silver 5 has launched the slimmest phone, which was 5.1 mm thick. This phone was made in 2015 and was originally produced by an Indian company.
The competition for ultra-slim phones began in the mid-2010s. This slim trend included the Vivo X5 Max (4.75 mm), Oppo’s R5 (4.85 mm), and Gionee’s Elife S5.5 (5.5 mm). Micromax entered this market with the Rs 17,999 Canvas Silver 5. Micromax was the top smartphone brand in India at the time, closely rivaling Samsung and surpassing Oppo, Vivo, Apple, and Xiaomi by a wide margin. Micromax, which was well-known for its reasonably priced phones, sought to break away from its “budget-only” image and target a luxury market.

Micromax widely publicized the Silver 5’s launch. CEO Vineet Taneja showcased its thinness through astute demonstrations, contrasting it with competitors and even with an apple placed on a weighing balance next to the iPhone 5s. The phone weighed only 97 grams.
Hugh Jackman fronted a chic advertising campaign that supported the launch. The ad featured a memorable film that highlighted the phone’s durability despite its slim design. The Canvas Silver 5 boosted the brand’s reputation, but Micromax failed to maintain its premium positioning. Chinese rivals quickly seized its market share. Today, the iPhone Air makes headlines, but we must remember that an Indian company originally produced the world’s thinnest phone.
