iPhone 14 Price: A Flipkart customer has taken to Reddit to share his frustration after his confirmed order for an iPhone 14 was abruptly cancelled. According to the post, the customer had purchased the device during the Big Billion Days sale on September 22 at a price of ₹33,000. The order was confirmed and even marked as “shipped.” However, by the evening, Flipkart cancelled it without providing a clear reason.
Later, the buyer received a WhatsApp and SMS message from Flipkart claiming the cancellation was due to a “price error.” As a form of compensation, the platform offered the same device at a revised price of ₹41,499, valid for seven days. That offer has since expired, and the iPhone 14 is now listed at ₹44,999 for all users.
The customer also highlighted that he had purchased the Flipkart Black membership worth ₹990, but despite several calls and emails, he received no satisfactory response from the grievance team.
The Reddit post asked whether this could be classified as an “unfair trade practice” under Section 2(47) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. The buyer is considering filing a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline or directly with the District Consumer Commission. Remedies being sought include either delivery of the iPhone at the original price, refund of the Flipkart Black fee, and compensation for harassment.
Several Reddit users encouraged the customer to approach the consumer court. One cited a past incident where a Flipkart lottery dispute resulted in the court ordering the company to deliver the promised iPhone along with punitive damages.
A lawyer responding to the thread advised that the case holds merit under unfair trade practices. While the court may not compel Flipkart to sell at the original ₹33,000 price, the customer can reasonably seek compensation, membership refund, and litigation costs.
