The iPhone 17 series launched last month, along with some exciting new upgrades and features. One of these features we wanted to highlight is the less noticeable but very exciting dual capture video recording that allows users to capture video from the front and back cameras at the same time.


 

This dual capture video recording has existed for some time now on iPhones with iOS 13, but at the time, only through third-party camera apps. With the new iPhone 17, users have access to dual capture video directly in the iPhone camera.


 

If you are unfamiliar with the dual capture video recording capability, we’ve got you covered! We created this step-by-step guide to activate dual capture video on your new iPhone 17 models.

 

How to use the iPhone 17 Dual Capture video

Here is a for the steps for enabling dual capture video feature on your iPhone 17 model:

  • Step 1: Open the camera app on your iPhone 17
  • Step 2: Now, in the Photos/Video tab, select Video, and you can begin your video recording.
  • Step 3: Now, on the top right corner, you will open the quick settings menu
  • Step 4: You will be provided with four recording options, and you must choose the Dual Capture option
  • Step 5: At this point, simply tap the red Record button to initiate video recording. You can also use the Camera Capture to initiate recording.

 

Note: The Dual capture option will record video at 30 frames per second, and not at 60 or 120 FPS.
