New Samsung Feature Alerts Users About Explicit Videos in Texts

New Samsung Feature Alerts Users About Explicit Videos in Texts

Now, Google Messages will keep you safe from seeing unwanted explicit videos. This feature works on many Samsung phones, and it will scan for nudity in videos you receive and send. It will then provide you with a clear warning, and you have the ability to delete that content without ever viewing it.

How the New Video Protection Works

The app will automatically scan videos that you share. This scanning feature uses on-device processing, meaning that data does not get sent to any server outside your device for your privacy. If any explicit content is detected, the system blurs that content. It will then allow you to determine if you want the explicit content in your visibility or if you want to ignore the video.

Activating the Safety Feature

You will need to enable this protection manually. First, go to the Google Messages application. Click on your profile picture in the top corner. Then select “Messages settings” from the dropdown menu. Next, select the “Privacy and security” option.

Completing the Set Up

Find the menu item titled, “Sensitive content warnings.” Then tap the switch to the “on” position. After, a popup window will confirm that is your choice. Now the feature is activated on your device, and it will scan both photos and videos.

Another Benefit for Senders

The system also works by preventing you from sharing explicit videos unintentionally. It will scan the video before it goes out the door, and you will receive a warning if nudity is detected. You will then have to confirm that you intend to share the nudity. This keeps your contacts from seeing unwanted content.

Privacy and Security Guarantee

Everything is scanned on your device. Your private media never leaves your device. Google does not store any of the content scanned. This means complete privacy for the user. The platform is both secure and private.

Availability of Update

This feature is part of a recent update. It became available with October 2025 Play Services. Google just started deploying the update this week to devices. Please check that your apps are up to date in the latest version. You may also need to check for updates manually.

A Step Toward Safer Messaging

The most recent update builds on existing protection for images. Google previously provided nudity detection for photos. The image detection system used the same on-device algorithm. Expanding video detection adds broader safety. Therefore, it contributes to a safer messaging experience.

Increased Control of Your Content

You have more control over your inbox today as a result of this feature. The nudity detection feature will help filter away unwanted explicit material, and in a way that empowers you to decide when you want to see known content such as videos or images. This feature will reduce some chances of possible awkwardness or discomfort around seeing known explicit content at potentially inappropriate times.
