Telangana Bandh Today: RTC Bus Services Halted Across Hyderabad

Telangana Bandh Today: Telangana had a statewide bandh today wherein all RTC bus operations ceased completely across Hyderabad and in many districts. The strike came from Backward Class (BC) unions for justice and welfare measures for BC employees. The bandh left many thousands of daily commuters stuck at numerous bus stops and depots. Hyderabad RTC Buses at their Depots

In the city, RTC buses remain bound to depots through the morning. Major depots include Rajendranagar, Dilsukhnagar, Bandlaguda, Hayathnagar, Barkatpura, and Ibrahimpatnam; all reported zero departures as employees joined the bandh. Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS), two usually busy spots, gave one the deserted look.

Sit-ins are Protests of BC Union Leaders at Locus Points

Sit-in protests were conducted by BC union leaders at MGBS and JBS raising their slogans against the government’s delay in meeting their demands. They said better job security, pay revisions, and reservation benefits for BC employees in government services must be theirs. The protest was peaceful but effectively brought traffic and public transport to a standstill.


In an attempt to stir the political pot, he took part in the bandh around the Jubilee Bus Station to express solidarity with the BC unions. Many local leaders came together on this issue asserting that the government should be browbeaten to listen to the community.

Public Inconvenience and Government Response

Buses not on the road forced the commuters to dangle by autos, metro trains, and private conveyance making them go through some serious congestions in some regions of Hyderabad. To this end, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) management had urged employees to resume duty, ensuring that the government would consider their concerns.

Overall, the Telangana shutdown sums up the brewing unrest among BC workers. Who wholeheartedly believe in fighting for their rights and justice.
