For many users, battery life is the most important aspect of a smartphone. The Honor Power 2 boasts an extraordinary 10,000mAh battery. Will it be able to compete with existing battery phones? Let’s explore the competing specs in advance.
Honor tentatively plans to reveal the Power 2 in early 2026, after the original Honor Power phone. Its price is not yet public, but it is expected to be in the mid-range.
The Power 2 will likely have a 6.78″ LTPS display and may also have a 120Hz refresh rate. With a 1.5K resolution, we expect the display to be crisp and clear, although it is the brightness of 4,500 nits that will set the phone above several established competitors. We expect the phone to perform well in sunlight.
The battery life is obviously the most anticipated feature of the phone: 10,000 mAh. Most premium phones are now in the 5,000-6000 mAh range, while several gaming phones now have around an 8,000 mAh battery capacity. Clearly, the Power 2 is the king of this aspect.
The Honor smartphone may also support 66W wired fast charging, with 45W wireless charging speeds. Another key feature, reverse charging, is also probably on the way. While and good, these numbers will not set any records in their category.
The phone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 SoC, which is designed to balance efficiency and battery, while being powerful enough for gaming and multitasking. We believe that performance will be comparable to other devices in the mid-range flagship category.
The Power 2 will likely house a dual camera system. The primary camera might have a resolution of 50MP with OIS. There may also be a 5MP ultra-wide camera. A 16MP selfie camera is typically seen in this category.
It should have an IP68/IP69 rating, so it would be dust and water resistant. Some type of drop resistant body is also likely. All of this is expected of a phone at this price point.
The phone may have an option for 8 or 12GB of RAM. The storage is likely to be either 256 or 512GB of base storage. There does not appear to be an option for expandable storage. These specs are expected of most of today’s smartphones.
As of now, battery champions come from brands like Asus and Blackview who consistently make phones with 8,000mAh batteries. No mainstream brand has made a phone with a 10,000mAh capacity, like the Power 2. The Discovery of which would make the Honor Power 2 the best battery phone, at least among the the bigger manufacturers.
The Power 2 could establish a new standard for battery phones by offering twice the capacity of regular phones. Further, it will have the regular performance specs to back it up. The price will be a big factor in determining its value.
The Honor Power 2 looks promising. With a larger capacity, the Power 2 could become the new phone to beat. We’ll see if it gets confirmed or not. It sounds like it could eventually earn the title Battery King!
