iPhone 18 May Work Anywhere on Earth – No SIM Required!

iPhone 18 May Work Anywhere on Earth – No SIM Required!

Apple and SpaceX are apparently preparing something that is going to be huge for iPhone users. It might completely change your iPhone as you know it. Your phone could use the internet without a SIM card. Instead, it would connect via a satellite directly, without needing to be online or connected to a service.

The Starlink Connection

According to a report, Apple is planning to collaborate with SpaceX. The plan is to operate off of the Starlink satellite terminal network. Using this network would allow the direct use of the Internet on iPhones. This would mean you could have the internet even if you did not have access to a mobile phone network.

Targeting the iPhone 18 Pro

If everything goes according to plan, this concept could potentially be available for launch in the upcoming year with the iPhone 18 Pro series. It would be revolutionary for certain iPhone users, particularly for those living off the grid in remote areas with no internet access. They would have instant connectivity anywhere.

Beyond Emergency SOS

There are already reporting capabilities with current iPhones, via a satellite system. The Emergency SOS system uses Globalstar, which allows the “SOS” capability without requiring a network connection. There is definitely a bigger plan at play with this proposed feature for Starlink that would allow for browsing full internet capabilities.

A Shift in Partnerships

Apple may be looking to switch their satellite partner. Globalstar is apparently looking to sell the entire company. This signals a shift from Globalstar. Apple may be switching to Starlink for full internet capabilities.

SpaceX’s Growing Network

SpaceX, as noted, is expanding its capabilities with satellite systems, and has made even bigger spectrum deal recently. The spectrum deal allows for the development of a direct service to a cell phone capability, and is one of the final steps for providing internet for phone capabilities.

How It Works Now

Right now, Starlink serves both houses and mobile vehicles, and it partners with T-Mobile. This service is specifically for certain users. Allowing direct access from an iPhone would be tremendous.

A SIM-Free Future?
This partnership could allow service without any SIM cards. Users considering an iPhone in the future may not need SIM cards at all, as they could receive internet service from space. This would be possible from anywhere.
