Hello UPI Voice based Payments Launched: Here Is How It Works

Hello UPI Voice based Payments:

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched a new feature called “Hello UPI”, which allows users to make UPI payments using voice commands. This innovative step is designed to make digital transactions even more convenient, especially for people who are not comfortable typing or navigating mobile apps.

Hello UPI Voice based Payments

The main goal of Hello UPI is to make the user experience easier and more accessible. It supports regional Indian languages, enabling people from different parts of India to use their mother tongue while making payments. This feature is a big move toward inclusive digital banking.

Benefits of Hello UPI

Hello UPI allows people to perform voice-based UPI payments using smartphones, feature phones, and IoT devices. It will be especially helpful for senior citizens, digitally unskilled users, and those with visual impairments. Users can simply speak their commands to complete payments, making transactions quicker and simpler.

How Hello UPI Works

The feature can be accessed through telecom calls, UPI apps, and IoT devices. NPCI has integrated this feature using its Server-Side Common Library (SSCL). The same system also supports UPI 123Pay, ensuring a smooth and secure transaction process.

Users can perform all usual UPI activities, including entering their UPI PIN, within the same app.

Supported Phones and Languages

Hello UPI works on both feature phones and smartphones. Currently, it supports English and Hindi, and NPCI plans to expand it to other regional Indian languages soon.

UPI Growth in India

In October 2025, UPI transactions reached a record ₹27.28 lakh crore, showing a 10% increase compared to September. A total of 2,070 crore transactions were recorded, with October 18 alone witnessing 75.4 crore transactions in a single day.

With the launch of Hello UPI, NPCI has taken another major step toward making digital payments more accessible and user-friendly across India.
