Tollywood Celebs on Piracy Amid iBomma Ravi Case: Full Deets

Tollywood Celebs on Piracy: The arrest of iBomma Ravi has opened the floodgates for a long-overdue discussion in Tollywood: with the devastating effects of digital piracy. With a landmark arrest made by the Hyderabad Police against one of the biggest piracy operators, several bigwigs from the Telugu film industry have come out to register protests on how piracy damages not just films but millions of livelihoods.

Chiranjeevi

Megastar Chiranjeevi reiterated, saying, “Piracy is not an issue that has suddenly surfaced; it has had a cool haunting of the film industry for several decades.” He lamented the fact that one person can rob the hard work done by countless people who earn their living through cinema. He appreciated both CV Anand, the ex-CP, and Sajjanar, the present CP, observing that due to their constant effort, they managed to corner the “ghost of piracy.” Chiranjeevi expressed concern that unless piracy is eradicated, the fight should be continued.

Rajamouli

SS Rajamouli, the director, had a dire warning for the public. He reminded viewers that these movies show free on illegal sites end up costing something bigger: their data. Drawing a parallel between Immadi Ravi’s arrogance and the mythological Bhasmasura, Rajamouli explained that maintaining massive servers translates into huge monetary costs, which unsuspecting users indirectly pay for via the stolen data. “You are losing more than we are,” Rajamouli admonished the audience.

Nagarjuna

Actor Nagarjuna thanked the Telangana Police and mentioned many were ignorant of the intensity of the moment. He noted how people from other states even praised Telangana’s swift action. To highlight the danger, he stated that data were stolen from 50 lakh users, while someone from his own family underwent digital confinement due to data misuse. His message was loud and clear: risks accompany free piracy sites.

Suresh Babu & Dil Raju

Producer Suresh Babu described how criminals use the stolen data to commit fraud by opening bank accounts and accessing credit cards. Dil Raju added that stealing a movie practically destroys the livelihood of thousands, comparing it to losing a valuable asset at home.
