Phone Falls Into Water:
Mobile phones have become a part of everyone’s daily life. We take them everywhere, and sometimes accidents happen. One common problem many people face is when their phone slips into water. It may fall into a bucket, sink, toilet, or even on a rainy street. In such moments, people panic and worry that the phone is completely damaged. But you do not need to stress. There are some simple steps you can follow to save your phone before taking it to a service centre.
If your phone falls into water, the first thing you must do is switch it off. Keeping the phone on can cause a short circuit. This may damage the internal parts permanently. After switching it off, remove the SIM card, memory card, and back cover if possible.
Use a soft cloth or tissue paper to wipe the phone. Do not shake the phone or press any buttons. Pay special attention to areas like the charging port, headphone jack, and speakers. These small parts usually store more water.
After cleaning, place the phone in a bowl filled with rice. Make sure the container is fully closed, so no air enters. Leave the phone in the rice bowl for at least 24 to 48 hours. Rice absorbs moisture and helps the phone dry faster. You can also use silica gel packets if available. Keeping the phone under a fan also helps in drying.
Avoid charging the phone when it is still wet. Charging can push water deeper and cause serious damage. You should also avoid using a hairdryer. The hot air may harm the phone’s circuits.
After 24–48 hours, try turning on the phone. If the display, sound, camera, and charging work normally, your phone is safe. If the screen remains black or the phone does not turn on, it is better to visit a service centre for repair.
These simple steps can prevent major damage and help you save your phone from water accidents.
