A strange crime trend is shocking London residents. Thieves are specifically targeting Apple iPhones. They often steal Android phones by mistake. These criminals then return the unwanted Android devices. This odd pattern reveals their clear preference. Multiple victims have shared their bizarre stories.

Victims recount their stories

A London local named Sam encountered this. Eight individuals surrounded him in South London. They hit him and stole his possessions. The thieves took his camera and phone. One of the thieves returned to him suddenly. He handed him back a phone, which was an Android. He stated, “Don’t want, no Samsung.” This left Sam totally shocked and confused.

Another man, Mark, shared something similar happen to him. On an e-bike, a thief stole his Samsung smartphone. Mark attempted to chase the thief; however, he eventually stopped. The thief rode a little way ahead of Mark and calmly put the phone on the ground. He left Mark’s phone unharmed. Many people now report this happening.

Why do thieves want iPhones?

Cyber security experts can help explain this strange behavior. iPhones have a much higher resale value. Thieves can make more money off of them. This bigger return is enticing to criminals. Both phones have great built in security. That makes stealing a phone, and unlocking it, very difficult. Thieves are solely focused on the potential return. They just want the most valuable item.

Police response

The police in London are now aware of this new trend. They do not have any accurate data on phone thefts. Their data do not track phone brands. Officers continue working to catch the thieves. Public safety remains their top priority. They advise everyone to stay vigilant.

A Warning for Phone Users

This trend highlights a key difference. iPhone users face a greater theft risk. Criminals see their devices as premium products. Everyone should protect their phones carefully. Use strong passwords and tracking features. Be aware of your surroundings always.
