The news of the crash of the Indian Tejas fighter jet at the Dubai Air Show shocked the entire nation, but the incident left the deepest wound in the heart of a father who accidentally found this tragic news on YouTube. According to the media reports, Jagannath Syal, a resident of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh and father of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, was searching for a video on YouTube to watch his son’s performance, but in the next few seconds, his life changed forever.
Namansh Syal’s father says he had spoken to his son just a day earlier. He had said, “Be sure to watch my performance tomorrow, on TV or YouTube.” But at around 4 p.m., Jagannath Syal was watching live updates of the air show on YouTube when news of the Tejas crash appeared. Jagannath Syal, a retired school principal, says in broken words, “I spoke to Namansh only yesterday. He said I should definitely watch his performance on YouTube or TV. Today, when I was searching for videos of the air show, news of the crash came up. I immediately called my daughter-in-law. A short while later, six Air Force officers arrived home, and I knew something terrible had happened.”
Namansh joined the Air Force after passing the NDA in 2009. He attended Dalhousie Primary School, Army Public School, Yol Cantt, Dharamshala, and Sainik School Sujanpur Tira. He excelled in studies and dreamed of flying high in life. This accident shattered everyone’s hearts.
